Rosemary is a prized herb recognized for its culinary value. It infuses a distinct aroma to enhance the taste of our food. A sprig of rosemary completes the delectable flavor of lamb and steak, making it a staple for many recipes.
But there is so much more about rosemary than just cooking…it has had an important part in the history of medicine, and is listed in Hildegard’s Medicine, a compilation of early German medicines by highly regarded Benedictine herbalist Hildegard of Bingen (1098-1179).
It was also part of the “Marseilles Vinegar” or “Four Thieves Vinegar” that thieves who robbed the dead and dying used to protect themselves during the 15th century plague. Rosemary was burned as an incense in ancient Greece, to ward off evil spirits and to protect against infection.
It was used in many tonics and liniments for boosting memory and relieving other health problems over the years. University of Miami scientists found that inhaling rosemary boosted alertness, eased anxiety, and amplified analytic and mental ability. It sounds like a winner to me, especially as we get on in years!
I enjoy adding Young Living Rosemary oil to my diffuser daily to clean and freshen the air and find it great for mental clarity and focus. A spray bottle with 10 drops rosemary oil and water is excellent for the garden, as it deters many pests like mice, cabbage moths, flies and mosquitoes.
When I add a drop to my hair rinse it makes my hair shiny and is great for hair growth. For many more ways to use this amazing oil click here.
Young Living’s signature scent, Luscious Lemon, is exciting and energizing for spring! This is a bright citrusy blend that helps to neutralize unwanted odors with notes of Lemon Myrtle and Lemon oil from South Africa, Ylang Ylang from Madagascar, as well as Spearmint and Eucalyptus Globulus.
Luscious Lemon is incredibly uplifting to the mind, with the Lemon and Lemon Myrtle which encourages follow-through with goals! The spearmint and Ylang Ylang help to balance the male/female energies, combats anger and low self-esteem and restores confidence and peace. The Eucalyptus Globulus is refreshing for the respiratory system.
The Luscious Lemon is part of the gifts for March as well.
Both essential oils are excellent choices, especially for springtime, when we have so many new goals and plans for the coming months.
Blessings for a confident and focused spring!
